Assignment – Lesson 2: Joining & Visual Transformation

Assignments (4 Marks Each) Transformation Table: Create a table for the letters ج (Jeem), هـ (Ha), and ي (Ya) showing their Initial, Medial, and Final forms. The Dot Challenge: Write the word “Bayt” (House) five times. Each time, change the dots to create new (even if nonsensical) words, and label which letters you created. Vowel Assembly: Take 10 three-letter roots (e.g., K-T-B) and apply different Harakāt combinations to them, then transliterate the resulting sounds. The Shadda Hunt: Find 5 words in an Arabic text that use a Shadda and write out the two sounds that the Shadda is combining. Cursive Copying: Hand-write a short sentence (provided by the instructor) twice—once with all vowels and once without—to see how the visual look of the word changes.

Assignment – Lesson 1: The Alphabet & Sound Architecture

Assignments (4 Marks Each) Phonetic Map: Draw a diagram of the human throat and mouth and label the 6 throat letters in their correct positions (Top, Middle, Deep). Sound Comparison: Record an audio clip pronouncing 5 pairs of similar-sounding letters (e.g., ت/ط, س/ص, ك/ق) and explain the physical difference in your tongue position. The Rebel List: Write out the 6 stubborn letters and provide one example word for each where the gap is clearly visible. Letter Search: Find 10 Arabic words in a newspaper or online and circle every letter that comes from the “Lips” group. Articulation Essay: Write 200 words on why the “Ayn” and “Ha” are difficult for non-native speakers, focusing on the muscle movements required.

Assignment – Lesson 2: Final Portfolio Evaluation

Lesson 2 Assignment “The Character Development Portfolio” Assembly: Gather all 12 previous assignments and reflection logs into a single digital or physical folder. The Final Essay (750 words): Write a comprehensive concluding essay entitled “The Person I Am Becoming.” Identify the top three transformations in your behavior this year. Discuss how your relationship with Allah has evolved through the lens of Akhlāq. Define your “North Star”—the one Prophetic trait you commit to embodying for the rest of your life. The Manifesto: Create a one-page summary of your “Ethical Code” to be kept in a visible place (like a digital wallpaper or a journal cover).

Assignment – Lesson 1: Scenario-Based Learning

Lesson 1 Assignment “The Ethical Crisis Simulation” Select a Scenario: Choose one of the following: Scenario A: You witness a friend making fun of another person’s physical appearance in a group chat. Scenario B: You find out a colleague is taking credit for work you actually performed. Scenario C: A family member is spreading gossip about your favorite cousin. The Response (500 words): Write out a transcript of how you would handle this situation. You must cite at least two principles learned in this course (e.g., Itqān, Satar – veiling others’ faults, or Rifq – gentleness) and explain how they guided your specific words and actions.

Assignment – Lesson 2: Living with Purpose

Lesson 2 Assignment “The Intentionality Map” Activity Tracking: List three “mundane” or “worldly” things you do every day (e.g., studying, exercising, talking to friends). The Re-Frame (450 words): For each activity, write a new “Divine Intention” that turns that act into a form of worship. Reflection: How does having a “Higher Purpose” for these small tasks change your energy and your Adab while doing them? Does studying feel different if you view it as a means to benefit the Ummah?

Assignment – Lesson 1: Daily Self-Evaluation

Lesson 1 Assignment “The 5-Minute Nightly Audit” The Practice: For the next 5 days, spend the last 5 minutes of your day in silence. The Three Questions: What was my best moment of Adab today? Where did I fail to control my tongue or ego? How can I rectify that mistake specifically tomorrow? The Supplication: Write your own personal Duʿā (in your own language) asking Allah for help with your most difficult character flaw. Submission (500 words): Describe how the simple act of “auditing” your day changed your behavior the following morning. Did you feel more “watched” by your own conscience?

Assignment – Lesson 2: Becoming a Role Model

Lesson 2 Assignment “The Influence Reflection” The ‘Who is Watching?’ Map: Identify three groups of people who observe your behavior (e.g., younger siblings, non-Muslim coworkers, fellow students). Case Study (450 words): Describe a situation where you chose the “higher road” of Adab even when it was difficult. How did the people around you react? Did it change their perception of you or your values? The Daʿwah Plan: Choose one specific area of your life (e.g., punctuality or digital comments) and decide how you can turn it into a “Silent Daʿwah” opportunity through excellence.

Assignment – Lesson 1: Consistency & Iḥsān

Lesson 1 Assignment “The Iḥsān Journaling Project” The Morning Intention: Start every day for one week by choosing one specific trait (e.g., patience, honesty, or helpfulness). Intentionally seek three opportunities to display that trait with Iḥsān. The Muhāsabah Log (500 words): For seven nights, keep a log of your “Hits and Misses.” Hits: Moments you acted with excellence. Misses: Moments you fell back into old negative habits. Synthesis: At the end of the week, analyze your log. What triggers your “misses”? How does the awareness of Allah’s presence (Iḥsān) change your reaction to those triggers?

Assignment – Lesson 2: Adversity & Leadership

Lesson 2 Assignment “The Ethical Leadership Blueprint” The ‘Shura’ Simulation: Think of a project or problem you are currently leading (at school, work, or home). Plan a “Shura” session where you intentionally seek the opinions of those who usually stay quiet. The Mercy Audit (450 words): Reflect on a recent setback or “adversity.” Did you respond with a “victim mentality,” or did you use the Prophetic model of looking for the long-term goodness (as he did in Ta’if)? Final Reflection: How does understanding the Prophet’s ﷺ struggles make his ethical standards feel more attainable to you?

Assignment – Lesson 1: Sunnah in Practice

Lesson 1 Assignment “The Sunnah Mirror Exercise” Selection (500 words): Choose one specific incident from the Prophet’s ﷺ life where he interacted with someone who was rude or hostile. Analysis: Break down the specific ethical traits he displayed (e.g., Hilm – forbearance, Sabr – patience, Sidq – truthfulness). Application: Describe a current relationship or situation in your life that is “difficult.” How would adopting the specific Prophetic response from your case study change the outcome of that situation?
